I have been very busy these last three weeks, attending campaign functions and knocking on doors. I truly appreciate all of the support that that has been shown to me.
I attended a candidates forum sponsored by the Delaware County League of Women Voters and the Delaware County chapter of the AAUW (American Association of University Women). One of the major differences that was discussed between my opponent and I was our attitude toward the caucus system in the State Legislature, a system that in my opinion attempts to lock in party members with their leaders, and punished them if they vote against the caucus position. I told the people at the meeting that I would be independent, and make up my own mind about legislation. My opponent said that the caucus system was useful, because “there are so many bills that you don’t have time to read them”, so she relies on the caucus for guidance. Actual quote. Isn’t it the job of a state legislator to take the time to read all the bills and make up your own mind?
